Seahawks RBs Giving Offense 'Great Balance' Says Ken Walker

The Seattle Seahawks had a strong performance against the Carolina Panthers, with running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet showing they can be quite the tandem.

The Seattle Seahawks have moved on quickly from the Week 1 disaster against the Los Angeles Rams with back-to-back wins that saw them pile on 37 points in both games.

Playing in front of a raucous home crowd at Lumen Field, the Seahawks eased past the Carolina Panthers, 37-27, on Sunday with the running game being pivotal in the win.

Kenneth Walker III and rookie Zach Charbonnet showed that they can be a good tandem for Geno Smith and the offense to lean on as they combined for 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

But in Walker's eye, it is the offensive line that gets the plaudits for Seattle's impressive plays on the ground.

“First off, it starts off with the O-line," Walker said. "They did a great job, and made my and Zach’s job easier. Also, I want to give credit to Zach (Charbonnet), because he had a lot of physical runs and he made a lot of plays. I feel good about the way we ran the ball.”

Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker got the ground game started on Sunday.

In the first two weeks, Walker and Charbonnet struggled to get going. Against the Rams, the duo combined for just 75 yard. In Week 2's win over the Detroit Lions, they managed just 59 rushing yards.

But against the Panthers, the duo managed 143 rushing yards (Walker 97, Charbonnet 46) with both going at over five yards a carry

With both backs making plays, Walker says that the pair give the offense a good balance, no matter who is in the game.

“I feel like it’s a great balance," Walker said. "Zach can make plays, just like I can make plays. Whichever one of us is in the game, I believe that we’re going to produce.”

With the Seahawks having a host of weapons for Smith to utilize, it was the running backs that showed the versatility of Shane Waldron's offense.

Both had their best game of the season, and it feels like the pair are just getting started headed into Monday night's road contest with the New York Giants.
