Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Macdonald Reveals Team's 'Style' Headed Into Year 1

First-year Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will be at the University of Washington’s 2024 Be a P.R.O Coaching Clinic, an event that spans two days. Washington’s football program posted a teaser Tuesday, allowing local fans to hear Macdonald’s vision for the Seahawks.

“The best way I can describe our style is I want the opposing team to feel like they’re playing more than 11 guys,” Macdonald said in the video posted by Washington on X. “So call it 12, 13, 14 guys at a time. So what does that feel like? Everyone is playing with so much intensity and energy and physicality that it feels like you’re playing more than 11 guys. So that applies to offense, special teams, defense, but that’s what we tried to build in Baltimore and we’ll build that again here.”

As mentioned by Macdonald, he previously spent time in Baltimore, serving as a defensive coordinator under John Harbaugh. He takes over in Seattle after the franchise spent 14 seasons under legendary coach Pete Carroll. He logged a franchise record 147 victories.

As the NFL Draft approaches, Seattle is tasked with retooling both sides of the ball. Seahawks’ General Manager John Schneider recently explained a desire to add to the offensive linemen.

"We're going to be bringing a couple of veteran offensive linemen through in this second phase of free agency, and then comparing that to what the draft looks like," Schneider said on Seattle Sports 710, via the team website. "...That is a need on our team right now, I think it's fairly obvious."
