Seattle Seahawks Rookie Jerrick Reed II OUT for Season
Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Jerrick Reed II suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and is out for the rest of the season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed on Tuesday.
Reed, who was a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks out of New Mexico this past April, was third in the NFL in special teams tackles through Week 11. He added 11 total tackles on defense. He posted a career-best three total tackles on defense in the 37-27 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 24.

After Seattle drafted him, coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider raved about Reed’s energy and that he’s “fun to watch.”
"He's fun to watch. He's all over the place," Carroll said. "He's got a real knack about going for it and playing fast and aggressive and willing to make the plays. So there's a common theme again. This is a guy that we thought was really, really active and a lot of versatility and will be a special teams guy as well. It's going to be a very competitive position for us now."
If Reed is able to keep up his terrific play on special teams while also growing into his own on defense, he’ll be a valuable piece moving forward for a talented secondary that already includes guys like fellow rookie Devon Witherspoon, Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen, and veterans Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs.
The Seahawks (6-4) will look to bounce back from their heart-breaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams when they host the San Francisco 49ers (7-3) for a Thanksgiving matchup on Thursday.
