Seattle Seahawks 'Expected' to Sign Dallas Cowboys Ex DT Johnathan Hankins

The Seattle Seahawks are beefing up the interior for coach Mike Macdonald's defense.

Per reports from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Seahawks are "expected" to sign former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins after he visited with Seattle on Tuesday.

"The Seahawks are expected to sign veteran DT Johnathan Hankins, source says. Hankins was in for a visit with the team today," Garafolo tweeted.

Hankins, 31, spent the past season and a half with the Cowboys after being a part of a mid-season trade between Dallas and the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. Originally a second-round pick by the New York Giants in 2013 out of Ohio State, Hankins played four seasons with the G-Men before playing one year with the Indianapolis Colts and then the next four and a half seasons with Oakland/Vegas.

Last season, Hankins tallied three sacks, tying the most he's had in a season since 2016 when he also finished with three with the Giants. He posted a career-high seven sacks during his second season in the league in 2014.

In 152 regular-season games and 134 starts, Hankins has posted 403 total tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 12 passes defended.

Seattle already re-signed defensive lineman Leonard Williams, but have now added a veteran depth piece in Hankins. His arrival could help solve some of the defensive woes that the Seahawks had this past season.
