Seahawks Ex Special Teams Standout Signs With Steelers

Special teamer Tanner Muse played in all 17 regular-season games for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, including their lone playoff appearance.

Starting in 2023, the ‘Muse’ can be found in the Steel City.

Former Seattle Seahawks special teams stalwart Tanner Muse has agreed to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per a Friday morning report from NFL Network.

Muse, a key member of the Seahawks’ special teams for the past two seasons, was not tendered by the team prior to the start of the League year. As a result, he entered unrestricted free agency.

The 26-year-old entered the NFL as a third-round pick in 2020 by the Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately, Muse missed his rookie season while on injured reserve. He was subsequently waived at the conclusion of training camp 2022 before signing with the Seahawks practice squad in September.

Muse appeared in six games during his first season with the Seahawks. In 2022, he became one of the team’s primary special teams contributors, playing in all 17 regular-season games and their lone playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

While technically listed as a linebacker, Muse rarely aligned on defense during his time with Seattle. In fact, he was credited with taking only just 80 defensive snaps with the team in two years. However, the Clemson product was on the field for 325 special teams snaps (70 percent) last season, providing solid contributions in both coverage and protection units.

In 23 games played with Seattle, Muse managed to log 20 total tackles and one pass-defended. He also had four tackles in the team’s playoff matchup with the Niners.

With Muse off to Pittsburgh, the Seahawks will likely look to fill the void with a veteran free agent, or possibly a 2023 Draft prospect in the coming weeks.
