Bills Negotiating With Former Steelers QB
PITTSBURGH -- The Buffalo Bills are in talks with former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky about a return, according to The Athletic's Tim Graham.
Trubisky was released by the Steelers right at the start of the offseason, allowing him to negotiate with teams prior to the start of free agency. After two years in Pittsburgh, the veteran quarterback is looking to return to a backup role in Buffalo, where he spent the season prior to signing with the Steelers.
Trubisky was 2-5 as a starter for the Steelers, and lasted just four games during his first season before being replaced by rookie Kenny Pickett. He threw for 1,884 yards and eight touchdowns, but gave up 10 interceptions.
This past season, he went 0-2.
Trubisky was considered a valuable backup in Buffalo and should be an easy fit once he returns. Because the Steelers chose to release him instead of his contract expiring, Trubisky is allowed to sign with a team anytime before free agency.
