Steelers Get Massive Shake-Up in CB Market

The Pittsburgh Steelers just added another star-studded cornerback to their list.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers may be able to hit big at cornerback this offseason after the Buffalo Bills made a massive move to let one of the NFL's top defenders hit free agency.

After seven seasons in Buffalo, the Bills have released former All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, allowing him to become a free agent for the first time in his NFL career, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

White is coming off of three injury-ridden seasons in a row, and certainly has questions about his health. But when he is on the field, his presence has always been felt, recording 18 interceptions in his seven-year career, including one this past season while only playing four games.

White is coming off an achilles injury, which should lower his expected contract with a new team. Suffering the injury in October, it's unknown if he'll be 100% ready by the start of the season, but should be close.

The Steelers are searching for a starting cornerback opposite of Joey Porter Jr., and have been named contenders for almost every available player at the position this offseason. However, if White is cheap, and healthy, he may make the most sense.

The team is expected to pursue a cornerback in the NFL Draft as well, and depending on their decision to keep or release Patrick Peterson, could be walking into the year with Porter Jr., White, a highly-drafted prospect and potentially Peterson.

Look for the Steelers to at least look into White once free agency opens, and depending on how the market shakes out, they could view him as one of their top options to sign.
