ESPN Suggests Steelers Sign These Two Veteran Cornerbacks

The Pittsburgh Steelers are being pushed to make a splash at cornerback.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will be in the market for a cornerback this offseason, but the veteran name lingering around the team is Cam Sutton. For ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, though, he suggests Mike Tomlin and company should approach another vet on the open market.

Fowler says the Steelers are making the right move if they re-sign Sutton to a long-term deal. The cornerback is set to hit the free agency market for a second time, this spring with an estimated market value near $7 million per season, according to Spotrac.

Pittsburgh shouldn't stop there, though, according to Fowler. He lists two more names the Steelers should approach before next season.

"Pittsburgh could look to add a corner in free agency or the draft. Cameron Sutton is an option to return but might have priced himself out," Fowler wrote. "Free agent James Bradberry would be a good fit. Or the Steelers could get wild and target Ravens nemesis Marcus Peters."

While Sutton's deal won't cost the Steelers too much, Peters and Bradberry will be hefty buys. Spotract has Peters's market value at $9.8 million per season and Bradberry's at a little over $15 million.

The Steelers currently sit with roughly $1 million in available cap space. They could clear up plenty of room with the release of Mitch Trubisky and William Jackson III, as well as other cuts and restructures. Still, spending nearly $20 million on cornerback in free agency doesn't seem like a move that leaves them with enough space to fill other needs.
