Raiders Sign Former Steelers TE

A former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end is on the move.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Zach Gentry is on the move yet again.

After spending most of this season with the Bengals' practice squad, the Las Vegas Raiders have picked up Gentry and added them to their active roster ahead of a Week 17 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, according to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Gentry, a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2019, spent four full seasons in Pittsburgh before he was cut at the end of training camp this past August.

He appeared in 40 games over his career and made 15 starts, totaling 39 receptions for 303 yards and no touchdowns over that span. 19 of those receptions and 132 of those yards came during the 2022 season. Gentry has also played 211 special teams snaps over the past two seasons.

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up Gentry almost immediately after he was released by the Steelers and has been a member of their practice squad ever since. He did not appear in a game for the Bengals during his 16 weeks with the team.
