Oregon’s Noah Sewell Believes He’ll Fix Steelers LB Position

The Pittsburgh Steelers could find their starting linebacker in the NFL Draft.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Pittsburgh Steelers are not hiding their interest in inside linebackers at the NFL Combine as they’ve met with more than half a dozen so far in Indy. Next on their docket for a formal interview is Oregon’s Noah Sewell, who believes he’s the right fit for the black and gold’s defense.

Sewell is set to meet with the Steelers during Day 2 of the NFL Combine and dawned a big smile when giving his thoughts on the organization.

“I’m excited,” Sewell said on his upcoming meeting. “They need a backer and I think I can bring a lot to their team. Help them out and win games.”

The Steelers currently hold the 17th and 32nd picks to open the draft, which could be the sweet spot for Sewell to land.

“No matter what, I’ll always work for you,” Sewell said on what he brings to the NFL. “Day in and day out. Put in the overtime hours. Just know that you’re getting a hard worker.”

The Steelers have also met with first round names like Trenton Simpson, Ivan Pace, Drew Sanders and others, but Sewell believes he brings something different - play and weight wise.

“I like to stay away from those typical linebackers,” Sewell said. “I like to be unique with my weight. I can move around, I’m athletic, I’m dynamic, and I think I bring a lot to the table with my weight.”

During his time at Oregon, Sewell played 33 games and recorded 218 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
