Steelers Keep Two Punters on 53-Man Roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers make an unorthodox decision with their initial roster.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a surprising move with their 53-man roster, keeping two punters as they head into the regular season.

After a fierce competition throughout training camp and the preseason, the Steelers have decided to keep both Pressley Harvin III and Braden Mann. Harvin is the team's 2021 draft pick, while Mann was claimed by the team during free agency.

Keeping both doesn't make much sense for any NFL team as they head into the regular season. Some would speculate that the Steelers are searching for a trade, or already have one lined up with one of the two.

There have been rumors floating around that Mann could have interest from other teams around the league.

Harvin has been inconsistent during his two-year career, averaging 43.6 yards per punt, but helping that cause with a 44.5-yard average in 2022 after just a 42.6-yard average as a rookie.

Meanwhile, Mann is coming off a career-high season, averaging 46.9 yards per punt, with 27 punts landing inside the 20-yard line.

Both punters could be on the trade block over the next week, or the team could still be deciding on which one they'll keep during the regular season.
