Steelers QB Kenny Pickett Suffers Surprise Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is dealing with discomfort as the team starts practice in Week 13.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will monitor a significant injury that could alter their offense in the biggest way this week. According to head coach Mike Tomlin, quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with ankle discomfort that could affect his practice availability in Week 13.

Pickett didn't miss any time during the team's Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He was not mentioned after the game as an injury to monitor, likely meaning the discomfort appeared during the 48 hours from the end of the game and Tomlin's press conference.

Pickett could be held back in practice this week, but Tomlin did not sound worried about the quarterback's availability for the game.

Knowing Pickett's injury history, it's hard to imagine he'd miss a game due to a minor injury. As of now, it's a situation worth monitoring, but not one that should hold expectations he won't be on the field against the Arizona Cardinals.

If he cannot go, Mitch Trubisky will replace him as the starter.
