Steelers OL Nate Herbig Suffers Shoulder Injury at Practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a versatile piece to their offensive line.

LATROBE -- Pittsburgh Steelers guard Nate Herbig is the latest player to be struck by injury as the team enters their final week of training camp.

The offensive guard took reps during individual drills and seven-on-seven shots in the redzone, but was then absent from team drills. He was later seen wearing a significant wrap on his right shoulder and talking with trainers without pads on.

Herbig has been the team's primary backup at guard and has also worked with the second team at center. Without a sure bet in Kendrick Green or Ryan McCullum, the team has turned to Herbig to operate two positions as a backup, which seems to be their best effort to find a reliable option behind Mason Cole.

It's unknown what the extent of Herbig's injury is or how much time he'll miss because of it. Without him on the field, Kevin Dotson and McCullum will operate as backup guards while Green fills in at center.
