Steelers Signing Free Agent LB Tanner Muse

The Pittsburgh Steelers add a special teams ace in Tanner Muse.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to sign free agent linebacker Tanner Muse, according to NFL Network's Tom Pellisero.

The former third-round pick for the Las Vegas Raiders never suited up for the black and silver before ending up in Seattle with the Seahawks. He's spent the last two seasons there, playing every game last season as a special teamer, recording 16 tackles.

Muse hasn't made much of a contribution at inside linebacker in the NFL since leaving Clemson as a safety in 2020. He played just 7% of the Seahawks' defensive snaps last year, and the year before played in just six games.

The Steelers are looking for depth at inside linebacker, but more importantly, will use Muse as a special teams replacement after Derek Watt, Marcus Allen and Benny Snell Jr. hit the free agency market.

He should be expected to make the roster at this point, but an addition to the inside linebacker room in the NFL Draft could mean competition this summer.
