The Steelers defense understands the weight that is now on their shoulders

The Pittsburgh Steelers forced three turnovers in Week 5, two of which were on the Baltimore side of the 50. Yet, the team lost their fourth game of the season, falling 26-23 to the Baltimore Ravens.

Terrell Edmunds and the Steelers' defense finished their third-consecutive game with multiple turnovers on Sunday. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson finished the game with three interceptions on as the defense allowed only 9 points through the second half and overtime.

Despite the strong performance, the Steelers lost their fourth game of the season, 26-23. Pittsburgh has dealt with a number of injuries on the offensive end, this week, losing Mason Rudolph to a concussion.

Playing with a third-string quarterback is never a simple task. The Steelers faced an uphill battle offensively, the entire game. Leaving their defense with an ever bigger challenge.

Edmunds says the defense isn't worried about the challenge. Reminding everyone that football is a team sport, the safety said they'll have to play good enough to give their offense a chance to win, no matter who's throwing the ball.

"We needed one more turnover this past game to seal off the game, but we didn't make it," Edmunds said. "So, now we got to building, get back in the lab, get better and try to get some wins. Regardless of how many turnovers we get, we just want to get a win."

The defense played 39 minutes on Sunday, staying on the field for 79 plays. But despite the lopsided time of possession, Edmunds says the defense is responsible for playing their best game no matter the obstacles.

"We always hold ourselves to a high standard on the defensive side of the ball," Edmunds said. "Regardless of the situation, we know we just got to put them [the offense] in the best situation."

As for playing with Devlin Hodges at quarterback, Edmunds isn't worried about. From what he say on Sunday, Duck Hodges can lead an NFL team.

"I think I can speak on it the same way you guys speak on it, because we just saw his confidence out there, yesterday," Edmunds said. "He went out there; he's a third-string guy, and he went out there like he was a first-string guy."
