Steelers Could Add Another Bloodline to Roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to add more relatives to their roster.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in Ferris State cornerback Shon Stephens for a pre-draft visit, according to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report. The team is looking at even more family ties within their roster, hoping a potential steal could impress.

Stephen has spent his entire college career at the Division II level, starting at West Liberty and transferring to Ferris State. He was expected to transfer to a Power 5 school twice throughout his career, but the NCAA ruled against his immediate eligibility.

As for his family ties, Stephens is the cousin to Steelers second-year cornerback Joey Porter Jr. The two would become the third group of family members on the roster, joining the Heyward and Herbig brothers.

This past season, Stephens posted eight interceptions and a touchdown. At Michigan State's Pro Day, he ran in the 4.3's in the 40-yard dash and put up 19 reps on the bench press.

Pittsburgh needs another young cornerback and could look at Stephens for added depth. The team loves their bloodlines and could see potential in having Porter Jr. and Stephens in the same building, with Porter Sr. down the road.
