Steelers Handed Losing Season With Opening Win Total
The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to have a losing season once again.
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are, once again, not expected to have a winning record in 2024. As many seasons prior, including last year, they're given an over/under in win totals under the nine-game mark.
At BetOnline.ag, the Steelers open with an eight-win over/under. The Baltimore Ravens are listed at 11 1/2, the Cincinnati Bengals at 10 1/2 and Cleveland Browns at 8 1/2. Last year, Pittsburgh's over/under was 8 1/2 and they finished with 10 wins.
The Steelers haven't had a losing record since hiring Mike Tomlin. The head coach will enter his 18th season, with the previous 17 coming without a losing record. Only Tom Landry (21 seasons) and Bill Belichick (19 season) have more consecutive non-losing years NFL history.
With Russell Wilson and Justin Fields competing for the quarterback job, a new star inside linebacker in Patrick Queen and some other additions such as DeShon Elliott and Donte Jackson, the Steelers are viewed as one of the up-and-coming teams in the AFC. Still, it appears they're not expected to have the success they had last year with Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph leading the way.
