Steelers QB Sends Message to South Carolina

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback sent his praise to the Gamecocks after their National Championship.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson sent his congratulations to the South Carolina women's basketball team after their undefeated season ended with a National Championship.

South Carolina defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes in the National Championship, closing out a historic season. After the game, Wilson sent out his message, sending his praise and respect to the team and their head coach Dawn Staley.

"Congrats to South Carolina and Coach [Dawn Staley]," Russ wrote. "It is so special seeing Women’s Sports continue to grow and Dominate!"

Wilson attended N.C. State, which are somewhat rivals to their nextdoor neighbors in the south. Still, after the dominant season the Gamecocks had and a double-digit win over Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes, the praise was well-deserved from all. With both teams' runs to the National Championship, it created a historic season for women's college basketball, drawing more attention to the league that it has in recent years.
