Steelers Waste Their Final Roster Spot

It's not about the player, it's about the Pittsburgh Steelers missing on competition.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers started so strong this offseason, and even as they searched for the final piece to their 90-man puzzle, they had good intentions with names like Kwon Alexander and Markus Golden.

Somehow, they ended up with a position they've gone a little overboard with. And not that loading up on the trenches is a bad thing, but the Steelers have their offensive line. At this point, there are positions that need competition, and instead of adding it, they ignored them.

All in all, they wasted their 90th roster spot.

The addition of Jarrid Williams could end up being a great one. Hopefully, the former Philadelphia Eagle turns into an All-Pro tackle, and hopefully that's in Pittsburgh.

But on paper, there was no need for another lineman. They have their 53-man roster spots filled, and have competition for the remaining spots/practice squad.

It's a loaded o-line room. Meanwhile, there are at least two positions that only have just enough names to fill their roster.

It wasn't the best move of the offseason, but as they head into phase two of their summer program, changes will come.
