Falcons Hire Raheem Morris Over Texans Coach Bobby Slowik

Another head coaching vacancy has been filled without Houston Texans' offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.

HOUSTON — Another head coaching job is filled in the NFL. However, it did not involve Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik

According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Falcons will hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their next head coach.

Slowik was a finalist for the Falcons' coaching vacancy after a pair of interviews with the franchise.

This marks the second head coaching vacancy Slowik was in the running for and came up short Earlier in the day, the Carolina Panthers hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales.

In his first season at the helm as the Texans' offensive play-caller, Houston's offense improved dramatically under Slowik. They finished the regular season ranked 12th in yards, averaging 342.4 and scoring 22.2 points.

But what has made Slowik a top coaching candidate has been his work with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. The 36-year-old offensive coordinator helped Stroud put together one of the best seasons by a rookie quarterback in his first year under center.

During his time as the offensive passing game coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers in 2022, Slowik received credit for the development of Brock Purdy.

The Falcons' hiring has left two coaching vacancies with the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks. Slowik has interviewed in person with both franchises and remains a prime candidate.
