C.J. Stroud Compares Himself to Steph Curry After 3-Interception Win: 'No Shame in My Game!'
When can an NFL team feel good about its offense being responsible for three interceptions in a game?
When that NFL team wins, as the Houston Texans and rookie QB C.J. Stroud did on Sunday in a 21-16 decision over the Arizona Cardinals.
In fact, Stroud - who is off to a notable start this year as he's helped Houston to a surprising 6-4 record - is sort of puffing out his chest after the imperfect win.
"Steph Curry don't ever stop shooting,'' C.J. said, comparing himself to the NBA scoring legend. "I'm gonna keep letting it ride. ... I don't have no shame in my game!''
In many ways, the No. 2 overall pick in last April's NFL Draft, played well, completing 73 percent of his passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns. However, Stroud - who overall has thrust himself into the MVP conversation with his mature play - also threw a career-high three interceptions in the win.
The subject naturally came up in his postgame press conference. And maybe fittingly, as the Texans now turn their attention to the top challenge in the AFC South as they play the 7-3 Jacksonville Jaguars next week, C.J. offered up a projection and a promise.
"I've definitely got to be smarter,'' he said of the interceptions. "But no confidence is taken away from me. I'm gonna keep letting it fly."
