Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Reveals Key Area of Improvement Entering 2024

The Houston Texans have turned the page to the offseason, and they have a particular area to improve upon next fall.

The Houston Texans' 2023 season exceeded expectations, but there are still areas to improve upon as they turn the page to the next campaign.

The Texans have shown that they have one of the most electrifying young rosters in the NFL, but head coach DeMeco Ryans isn't settling for that. He wants this franchise to become elite, and for that to happen, he wants a stronger running game next season.

“I think the running game will be significant for us to improve upon," Ryans said. "I think as you see as you go throughout this game, especially in the postseason, teams that win games – you’ve got to be able to run the football and sustain it. And we weren’t able to accomplish that versus the Ravens, and it showed up. So, we [definitely] have areas to improve – many different areas – but the run game is one of those areas, for sure.”

Running back Devin Singletary led Houston in rushing this season with 898 yards and four touchdowns, but as a team, the Texans only had 10 rushing scores on the year. That partially makes sense thanks to the advent of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, but in order to become a balanced offense, Houston will definitely need to put an emphasis on running the ball in 2024.
