Texans Have To 'Just Do Your Job' Says Coach DeMeco Ryans

The Houston Texans have taken a beating lately, but coach DeMeco Ryans said it doesn't matter.

The Houston Texans fell to the Cleveland Browns by 14 points and fell to 8-7 in the process, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

Contributing to the latest Texans loss were injuries to key players like quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion), receiver Tank Dell (leg), and defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (ankle).

Coming into the game with that many players out is hard enough, losing three more in the process of trying to win only made matters worse, but coach DeMeco Ryans says none of it excuses Houston falling to the Browns or anyone else.

"We lost guys in this game, and of course, injuries suck for everybody," Ryans said. "It happens. But, at the end of the day, there's a game to be played. The game isn't going to stop just because we have injuries. So, for us, and my mindset of how we attack it is whoever steps in, just do your job. Be where you're supposed to be."

Early in the game, the Texans lost defensive end Jonathan Greenard and defensive backs Jimmie Ward and Steven Nelson. Those injuries are attributed to being the inspiration behind Houston adding safety Kareem Jackson to the roster on Wednesday.

On Sunday Houston plays host to the Tennessee Titans who are hoping to get their own starting quarterback - Will Levis - back from injury this weekend.

With Stroud reportedly getting close to returning the hope is he and others will be able to secure a second win over the Titans this season, and inject some new life into the Texans' postseason aspirations.
