The Houston Texans signed Azeez Al-Shaair this offseason, hoping to fill the void left by the departure of Blake Cashman to the Minnesota Vikings and Denzel Perryman to the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency.

Perryman, a former second-round pick, opted to return to the West Coast on a one-year deal, while Chasman headed back to his home state of Minnesota, joining the Vikings on a three-year contract. With these key players moving on, Al-Shaair steps into the spotlight as a linchpin in the Texans' defensive strategy.

Now, the Texans have revealed Al-Shaair's new number, making him the team's next 'Agent Zero by assigning him No. 0. They made the number assignment official with an announcement on X.

Al-Shaair signed a three-year $34 million deal fresh off an exceptional season with the Tennessee Titans where he ranked fifth in the NFL tackles, racking up 163 total stops at an average of nearly 10 per game.

He also added nine tackles for loss, six QB hits, two sacks and a fumble recovery in 17 games.

Despite the significant changes, brought on by the departure of Cashman and Perryman, and the signing of Al-Shaair, the Texans are not resting. With the upcoming draft looming large, the team remains vigilant in scouting potential linebacker prospects to add alongside Al-Shaair and incumbent starter Christian Harris.

With nine picks at their disposal, including two in the second and fourth rounds, Houston aims to bolster its defensive lineup, ensuring depth and versatility for the challenges ahead.
