Texans O-Line Can 'Help Us Win' Says GM Nick Caserio

Many question the Houston Texans offensive line, but general manager Nick Caserio says the unit is more than capable of helping the team win.

The Houston Texans have a lot of questions surrounding what the fate of their 2023 season will be, and some of the biggest reside within the offensive line.

Currently, the Texans starting offensive line features left tackle Laremy Tunsil along with guards Josh Jones and Shaq Mason, right tackle Tytus Howard, and rookie center Jarrett Patterson.

This unit produces multiple questions including how good will they be, and whether or not Houston will add to the group.

"We have players here that can go out there and help us win, so I think the big thing has just been volume more than anything else," Texans general manager Nick Caserio said. "We still have more than capable players that, if the player is in the building, we feel good about them...There's a cost of everything that you do...a financial cost...draft capital cost if you want to down that road, so it is what it is."

Earlier this offseason Pro Football Focus ranked the unit 25th in the NFL, and that was before left guard Kenyon Green was demoted and rookie center Juice Scruggs landed on injured reserve.

Now, with what's developed in front of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, many are wondering if the new gunslinger won't be running for his life and whether or not the offensive line can survive the season.

"We can make some modifications and changes on the fringes, see if we can upgrade the depth, and I'd say there's a lot of teams that are dealing with the same problem or situation," Caserio continued. "So we feel confident with the players that are in the building...our job is to try to find solutions, and that's what we're doing."
