LOOK: Texans Rookies Visit NASA Johnson Space Center

A day of team bonding activities concluded with a group trip to NASA's Johnson Space Center, which only furthered the Texans rookies' off-field chemistry ahead of next season.

Before the Houston Texans' rookies can get comfortable with each other on the field in the fall, they needed to be comfortable off the field.

Just over a week ago, that needed sense of chemistry saw rookies from both sides of the ball just 30 minutes away from the training facility at the NASA Johnson Space Center.

The Texans were having a day of "team bonding activities" across the city, which concluded with a tour of the entire NASA facility. The station allowed the players into the mission control room, even letting some of them speak with a manned crew.

And when it was receiver Tank Dell's turn to communicate, he had just one request for the astronauts:

"Can I get you to do a backflip?"

Seconds later, the astronaut successfully completed Dell's request, met with laughter from the rookie and the other employees and players around the room.

While the rookies' visit to NASA was a simple thing, it does speak to the level of chemistry that coach DeMeco Ryans is trying to build, especially off the field. It's something that's easy to overlook, but it doesn't seem that the Texans are.

In fact, not much seems to be being overlooked by the first year coach and his squad. Maybe that's the reason the Texans could look a lot different next year, in many ways.

Fans will just have to wait and see in September.
