The Texans are a completely different team than a season ago. That's partially in thanks to new head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. On Sunday against the Titans, Ryans could be coaching his first game without Stroud under center.

Stroud - who was placed in concussion protocol after hitting his head on the turf last week - could miss the game against Tennessee. It would be the first missed game of his young pro career. The No. 2 overall pick from Ohio State currently ranks second in the NFL with 3,631 passing yards.

“It’s more about their long-term health, as opposed to, just everybody gets excited about the next game and the next opportunity,” Ryans said.

If Stroud does miss, Davis Mills would get his first start of the season. He's posted a 93.3 passer rating in three previous meetings with the Titans.

Tennessee rookie quarterback Will Levis is 3-4 as a starter and has finally found a rhythm. He just posted his first 300-yard passing game while leading the Titans to 15 points in 51 seconds to beat the Dolphins 28-27 for his first road win.

Tennessee will rely on the running game of Derek Henry, who has rushed for at least 126 yards in each of his past five games against the Texans, and he eclipsed 211 yards in the other four.

At 7-6 Houston is one spot out of the playoff picture and just one game behind the Jaguars for the lead in the South. The Titans sit in last place in the South and their path to the postseason is much more difficult. But a win over Houston this week would go a long way.
