Indianapolis Colts Owner Jim Irsay Found 'Unresponsive'; 'Overdose' Alleged in Police Report

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay survived what law enforcement officials labeled an "overdose'' in December, an incident in which medical personnel found the 64-year-old "unresponsive'' in his bathroom at his home in Carmel, Indiana.

According to records from the Carmel Police Department obtained via an Access to Public Records Act (APRA) request from FOX59/CBS4, emergency responders were dispatched at 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 8 to Irsay’s home.

Per the report, when authorities did arrive at his home, Irsay was experiencing breathing issues, constricted pupils and a weak pulse. ... and was "turning blue.''

Police attempted to wake Irsay with a chest rub, but were unsuccessful. But after administering a dosage of Narcan, police said in their report that Irsay "responded slightly.''

Narcan is a drug that is commonly used to treat opioid overdoses.

Shortly after, paramedics then arrived on the scene to provide what police described in their official report as "life-saving efforts'' before Irsay was transported to a nearby hospital.

After receiving a list of medications from his caretaker, police were not clear on what Irsay had ingested. They did officially classify the incident as both an "overdose'' and an "overdose/poisoning.''

"At this time, it is unknown what Mr. Irsay had ingested prior to our arrival," Police said in their report.

The Colts released an official statement on Irsay earlier this month, saying he is recovering from a "respiratory illness.''

That statement in part: "Jim Irsay is currently being treated for a severe respiratory illness. ... He is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible. We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.''
