Jimmy Garoppolo Bidding War: Houston Texans vs. Raiders?

Amid all the moving parts … when it comes to “Jimmy G” … Can Houston win a bidding war here?

HOUSTON - The Houston Texans have talked so openly about chasing one big-name QB that we’re a bit concerned about a tampering charge.

But more immediately when it comes to “Jimmy G” … Can Houston win a bidding war here?

Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik acknowledged last that the Texans are interested in signing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“We have a process that we go through, Jimmy is obviously a part of that process,” Slowik said.

In this situation, we know the 49ers are shopping the QB and don't want him back. And via an ESPN, we think we know that the Texans and the Las Vegas Raiders might be the two teams ready to pursue with the most fervor.

There are a number of moving parts here. What’s the compensation? Do the Texans want Jimmy G because it frees them from drafting a QB this April at No. 2 or No. 12? Or is Jimmy G the “bridge” while a drafted rookie (Bryce Young? CJ Stroud? Anthony Richardson?) is granted patience while he learns?

As the Texans are trying to rebuild, QB is of course the most important position … and therefore the most important decision.
