The Houston Texans announced their initial 53-man roster after Tuesday's 3 p.m. CT cutdown deadline.

One name that wasn't included was 2022 first-round draft pick left guard Kenyon Green. The Texans placed him on injured reserve and he wasn't carried on the roster at the 3 p.m. CT cutdown deadline, so he will have to miss the entire 2023 season with a shoulder injury.

Green started in 14 of the 15 games he played in last season, and experienced a huge learning curve between his days with the Texas A&M Aggies.

In 525 pass-block snaps last season, Green allowed 47 pressures, 31 hurries, 12 hits on the quarterback and five sacks, according to Pro Football Focus. In three separate games, Green was given grades of 3.7, 4.6 and 6.8 in pass protection, according to PFF.

However, against the Chicago Bears, Green allowed one hurry, and against the Cleveland Browns he allowed none.

This season would have been vital for Green's continued development in the offense considering the No. 15 overall pick Houston used on him two drafts ago.

The Texans likely anticipated Green missing the season was going to be the case, as they traded for Pittsburgh Steelers center Kendrick Green Tuesday. The move has not been finalized just yet, but, as of now, Houston sent Pittsburgh its 2025 sixth-round pick in exchange for Kendrick Green.

With Juice Scruggs dealing with an injury, Kendrick Green will likely be the Texans' week 1 starting center against the Baltimore Ravens.

Shaq Mason has the Texans' right guard spot locked down, but this might force 2023 sixth-round pick Jarrett Patterson to slide into the starting left guard spot for the time being. Patterson can play both center and guard.

From left to right, the Texans' week 1 offensive line could look like: Laremy Tunsil, Patterson, Kendrick Green, Mason and either George Fant or Josh Jones while Tytus Howard recovers from a broken hand. Howard has a chance to suit up for Houston's season opener, but his recovery timeline is uncertain.
