Key Dates to Remember This Texans Offseason
Even though the NFL is in full offseason mode, there are still a plethora of key dates and meetings as the 2023 season looms around the corner.
Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and the Texans have plenty on their plate this offseason, with many key dates quickly approaching.
One of those very first offseason dates will be the NFL scouting combine, which runs from Feb. 28 through March 6 — giving the Texans plenty of time to review their 12 draft picks and analyze stats.
Up next on the offseason agenda is “tag designation,” which occurs on March 7 — this is the deadline for teams to designate franchise players, of which Houston has none at this time.
Starting March 13-15, teams can begin contract negotiations with free agents — a key date for multiple NFL teams prior to the start of next season.
On March 15, the new league year officially begins — allowing teams to sign and trade players freely starting at this time.
NFL owners will hold their annual meeting March 26–29 in Phoenix, Arizona prior to offseason workouts beginning on April 3.
The deadline for draft visits is April 19 and April 21 marks the day that restricted free agents can receive offer sheets (the Texans do not have any restricted free agents).
April 26 is the deadline for all teams to finish interviewing prospects and the 2023 NFL Draft kicks off April 27-29.
Rookie minicamps run from May 5-8 or May 12-15 and the rookie football development program begins on May 15, allowing players to get oriented with the city.
The league will hold its rookie premier from May 18-21 in Los Angeles, California and the NFL Spring Owners Meetings will be held May 22-24.
After that, it’s summer fun and just about time for a new NFL season.
