NFL MVP Odds: Is 2024 C.J. Stroud's Year?

NFL MVP odds are looking promising for C.J. Stroud heading into his second year with the Houston Texans.

With the NFL season now concluded, football fans face a six-month hiatus until the action resumes in August. While the NFL Draft in April offers a brief respite, the absence of football until then looms large.

However, for sports bettors, it's never too early to start looking ahead to the next season. On Monday, Draft Kings unveiled their inaugural betting odds for the NFL's 2024 Most Valuable Player award, sparking anticipation and speculation among enthusiasts.

And coming off of a historic rookie season, Houston Texans star quarter C.J. is primed to make a run.

C.J. Stroud

Per Draft Kings, Stroud's odds stand at +1400, positioning him with the eighth highest among contenders, behind seven other QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, defending MVP winner Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy, and Justin Herbert.

Stroud made quite the splash in his rookie season, recently named the Offensive Rookie of the Year and lighting up the field with MVP-worthy performances throughout the 2023 campaign.

With an impressive stat line boasting 4,108 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and just five interceptions across 15 games, Stroud emerged as a force on the gridiron. However, as he gears up for his second year, the stakes are higher, and the challenges tougher.

Despite his undeniable potential and the optimistic outlook for the Texans, anointing him as the MVP favorite in only his second year may be premature. While his rookie success certainly sets a high bar, navigating the complexities of a second season in the NFL requires resilience, adaptability, and consistent performance under pressure - all things he has shown before.

As the countdown to the 2024 season begins, all eyes will be on Stroud to see if he can live up to the lofty expectations and solidify his status as a true MVP contender.

The Texans' selections in the 2023 draft set the stage for their campaign in the AFC South, as both players proved instrumental in their success. The team's first two picks yielded immediate impact, with their Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year standing as the cornerstones of their roster.

Stroud's on-field prowess guided the Texans to an unexpected divisional title. Meanwhile, the team's defensive pick, Will Anderson Jr., made significant contributions, solidifying the Texans' defense and earning accolades for their standout rookie season.

Together, these two rookies exemplified the Texans' commitment to building a winning team for the future.

Should the Ohio State alum make any strides in his game, he'll undoubtedly be in the MVP conversation. As the new season approaches, all eyes are on Stroud as he looks to build upon his impressive debut and solidify his place among the NFL's elite quarterbacks.
