Dua Lipa's Unexpected Seatmate at Yankees Playoff Game Has MLB Fans Talking

For New York Yankees fans, Wednesday night's playoff game was one to forget. For Dua Lipa, it came with a rather unforgettable introduction.
The Grammy-winning singer and her husband, British actor Callum Turner, were among the famous faces at Yankee Stadium on Oct. 7 as New York faced the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the American League Division Series. While the Yankees' season ended in disappointment, an unexpected interaction in the stands gave baseball fans something considerably more entertaining to talk about.
Sitting alongside the celebrity couple was Laurence Leavy, better known to baseball fans as "Marlins Man," the Miami Marlins superfan whose bright orange apparel has made him a familiar sight at major sporting events across the country.
And judging by the photos and videos that surfaced afterward, the unlikely trio had quite the night.

Dua Lipa's Unexpected Yankees Encounter Goes Viral
Leavy, who has spent years attracting attention with his appearances behind home plate at high-profile baseball games, found himself sharing the spotlight with one of the world's biggest pop stars.
Videos circulating on social media showed Leavy chatting with Lipa and Turner during the game. At one point, he appeared to show the couple something on his phone, prompting plenty of curiosity from fans watching the interaction unfold online.
Leavy later offered an explanation on X, saying he had been talking to the pair about Bad Bunny and standing during "God Bless America."
So fyi. It was her 1st baseball gane ever. And 1st american hot dog ever. And i got her to stand during god bless america unlike Bad Bunny https://t.co/0TePHqCp0H

He also managed to get a selfie with both stars, and the resulting photo was every bit as entertaining as the encounter itself.
Wearing his signature orange Marlins gear, Leavy smiled alongside Lipa, who posed with an excited, open-mouthed expression. Turner joined them on the other side, looking considerably more composed.
Leavy seemed particularly impressed by the singer.
"She is SUPER NICE. Maybe best ever celebrity i met," he wrote on X.
I got to tell you. She is super nice. Just married. Abd i wished her 50 years of happiness. Plus was her 1st baseball game and 1st hotdog ever. Special night https://t.co/iTesLyqfcD

Baseball fans wasted little time finding the humor in the situation.
"Dua Lipa so lucky she gets to sit next to a celebrity," one X user joked, turning the tables on the internationally famous singer.
Barstool Sports also weighed in, sharing footage of the encounter with the caption, "There are zero remaining sentences."
The reactions captured what made the moment so entertaining. For pop music fans, Lipa was easily the biggest name in the photo. For longtime baseball followers, however, seeing Marlins Man casually chatting with two Hollywood A-listers was an unexpected crossover.
Dua Lipa and Callum Turner's Yankees Date Night Takes an Unexpected Turn
Beyond their surprise meeting with Leavy, Lipa and Turner appeared to be enjoying an evening together at the ballpark.
The couple, who married earlier in 2026, were photographed sitting close to one another near home plate. Lipa wore a burgundy outfit, while Turner opted for a cream-colored sweater.
Their night out also offered another glimpse of their relationship away from red carpets and industry events. The pair were first romantically linked in 2024 and later celebrated their marriage with family and friends.
Unfortunately for the Yankees supporters surrounding them, the action on the field wasn't nearly as enjoyable.
New York fell 4-3 to Tampa Bay, completing a three-game ALDS sweep and bringing the Yankees' postseason run to an abrupt end.
The game featured a particularly frustrating moment for the home crowd when Anthony Volpe's apparent game-tying home run in the sixth inning was ruled a double following a review for fan interference.
The Yankees never recovered, and their season ended when Trent Grisham struck out in the ninth inning.
For Lipa and Turner, however, the evening produced a memorable celebrity-meets-sports moment that quickly took on a life of its own online.
And for Marlins Man, who has spent years making himself impossible to miss at baseball games, it was another reminder that sometimes the most entertaining action at the ballpark happens nowhere near the field.
