The last race weekend of the season kicked off with George Russell putting in the fastest time during FP1. 

Following the Mercedes driver were Felipe Drugovich, who was standing in for Fernando Alonso, and Daniel Ricciardo. 

The first session of the weekend had nine test drivers taking part for various teams. Doohan had a close-call when he was on a flying lap taking on the final corner only to be met by Logan Sargeant who was driving slowly on the racing line. Luckily, Doohan was able to manoeuvre the A523 around the American driver to avoid a crash.
