Canadian GP Results: FP2 Ends With Lewis Hamilton On Top After Multiple Red Flags

The second free practice session got to a much better start than FP1 earlier today. Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets followed by George Russell and Carlos Sainz who put in the second and third fastest times, respectively.

Half an hour into the session, Charles Leclerc was at the top of the timesheets followed by Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz. However, Nico Hulkenberg encountered power unit issues leaving his Haas car stranded on the track billowing with smoke from the rear. A red flag was put on the session as the marshals worked to remove the car.

Next to be forced to retire from the session was Esteban Ocon after he was instructed by his Alpine team to stop the car. As the French driver had to pull over on the track, another red flag was put on the session. It is believed that the issue was a water leak.

Rain began to fall on parts of the track with just over five minutes to go leading the majority of cars to remain in the pits.
