F1 News: Insider Puts Rumours To Bed Of Daniel Ricciardo Signing With AlphaTauri

Sources close to Daniel Ricciardo have disputed rumours that the Australian driver replacing Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri next year.
Rumours began to circulate earlier today that the eight-time grand prix winner had been in Faenza for a seat fitting and to discuss a contract for next season. On top of this, there have been reports the Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has given Nyck de Vries an ultimatum that he needs to significantly improve his performance over the next three races, otherwise, he will lose his seat on the team.
However, as reported by ESPN, sources close to the Red Bull third driver have said that Ricciardo was in Faenza for his friends wedding and to have the seat fitting before getting back into an F1 car for some Pirelli testing after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It has not yet been confirmed by the AlphaTauri team or Ricciardo himself.
De Vries showed amazing promise when he stepped in for Alex Albon last minute at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix and scored points on his F1 debut. However, the Dutch driver has not been able to continue with the same performance, struggling to score any points in the 2023 season so far and is currently sitting in last place on the drivers' standings.
According to ESPN, if de Vries does lose his position in the team then AlphaTauri would look to replace him with Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson who has shown great promise, which should please some fans who have complained over the possibility of Ricciardo taking the seat.
