Two-time F1 champion Max Verstappen has chosen his 'ideal' driver line-up in fun video for Mobil 1 The Grid.

Verstappen was asked to choose only from the current drivers on the grid and he was not allowed to choose himself for either a driver role or team principal role.

First of all, the Belgian-Dutch driver was asked to choose the team principal for his hypothetical team and there were no surprises with his choice. Verstappen explained:

"Well, of the current people I think are capable of being the team principal, I would always go for Christian [Horner]."

Verstappen has driven under the Red Bull umbrella for the entirety of his F1 career. He made his debut with Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) in 2014 before being promoted to Red Bull in 2016. Horner has been the Red Bull team principal since 2005 and is the longest-standing team chief on the grid. The pairs long-standing and close relationship means no one was surprised when Verstappen chose Horner as his team chief.

The two-time champion went on to choose his driver line-up which he found more challenging. He explained:

"I think there are a lot of good drivers, and I would go probably for an experienced one. So I would go for Fernando [Alonso]. And then I would take a young guy and I would put Lando [Norris] in the car."

Fernando Alonso is the oldest driver on the grid with the longest career making his debut in 2001. Lando Norris has become a fan-favourite for his dry sense of humour and many are backing him to bag his first F1 win in the upcoming 2023 season. Hopefully, he will have a competitive McLaren to be able to get to the top of the podium.

Interestingly, Verstappen did not go for his teammate Sergio Perez for the other seat on his team, or rivals Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
