Red Bull Chief Reflects On How Cars Will Evolve This Season as RB19 Dominates

Red Bull team chief Christian Horner has spoken about how all of the cars on the F1 grid will evolve over the season.

Although the Austrian team dominated the first Grand Prix weekend of the year with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez qualifying for a Red Bull front row lockout, and then going on to easily bag a 1-2 finish, Horner is aware that this is not completely representative of the whole season.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Red Bull team principal explained:

“Everything has to evolve, nothing stands still.

“It’s flattering to see the resemblance of that car [Aston Martin AMR23] to ours, so it was great to see the three of them on the podium.

“I’ve been around long enough to see things change so quickly and I still think that these cars are still relatively immature and as teams develop and upgrades come, things will change.

“I think that the operating windows of these cars are very narrow and every team in the top three looks like it developed its own theme and one team have adopted our theme and have made a gain so at some point it is going to converge and that can happen within a season.

“It can converge in two weeks so let us see a few more circuits, more surfaces, the tyres [and] how they work at these different venues.”

Horner went on to explain how Mercedes went from severely struggling at the start of the 2022 season to winning the Brazilian Grand Prix towards the end, demonstrating how cars can change over the course of a season.

The next important F1 date is 17-19 March for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
