Singapore GP Results: Carlos Sainz Takes Pole Position Under The Lights Of Marina Bay

The results of the Singapore GP Qualifying.

Carlos Sainz will start the Singapore Grand Prix from pole position. 

Joining the Ferrari driver on the front row tomorrow are George Russell and Charles Leclerc who will be starting from second and third, respectively.

With all of the drivers out on the track on the soft tyres and the track evolving quickly, it was incredibly close at the top of the timesheets.

Esteban Ocon had slight contact with the race wall but was able to continue with the session. Logan Sargeant is also going to be investigated by the Stewards after the session for potentially impeding Lance Stroll. 

Q1 finished with a horrific crash from Stroll who lost control after running over the kerb and colliding with the wall. Thankfully, he was able to walk away from the crash but will be heading to the medical centre for assessment.

Max Verstappen is also due to be investigated by the Stewards after the session for potentially impeding the drivers behind him in the pit lane. The Dutch driver waited at the end of the pit lane with drivers waiting behind him. On top of this, multiple drivers are now under investigation for impeding between Turns 16-19.

After a short delay due to the track being cleared from Stroll's crash, Q2 got under way with the drivers back out on soft compound tyres.

Verstappen is facing another investigation for potentially impeding Yuki Tsunoda on a flying lap.

An incredible performance has come from Liam Lawson who got himself out of the elimination zone at the very last moment in Q2, pushing Max Verstappen down to start from eleventh. The New Zealander is currently standing in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo and has out-qualified his teammate Yuki Tsunoda and got through into Q3 during his third Grand Prix weekend.
