Nick Kyrgios on Picklr, Rage Rooms, and Next Generation of Tennis

Just as athletes hit the court this spring, The Picklr, North America's fastest-growing indoor pickleball brand, announced that global tennis star Nick Kyrgios is joining the company as an equity partner and athlete ambassador.
The Grand Slam champion's passion for pickleball makes this partnership a natural fit and adds to his growing pickleball portfolio, which already includes ownership in Vulcan and Stack Athletics.
In his new role, Kyrgios will collaborate with The Picklr to promote the brand and its mission to provide world-class pickleball experiences for athletes of all ages and skill levels. He will appear in co-branded content, attend events, and engage with members on social media to help drive awareness of the fastest-growing sport in America.
Sports Illustrated's Serve On SI chatted with Kyrgios through an email conversation about pickleball, tennis, and who could portray him in a movie.
How familiar were you with The Picklr before partnering with the company?
I knew the Picklr existed, but I had no idea how good/fun playing there was. That's why when I had the chance to see one, I knew I had to get involved in some way. I'm blessed that I now have a chance to bring this brand and sport to more people.
What kind of energy do you want to bring to your content and appearances for the brand?
Nothing new, the classic Kyrgios chaos haha. I want to show people how fun and accessible it is. You don't need to be a crazy athlete or be a generational talent. Anyone can play, and I want to push that message.
How excited should fans be about "The Kyrgios" paddle?
The paddle is no joke. We built it to rival the best out there. Style aside (dopest one out there anyway), the tech in the paddle is the best pickleball has to offer. That's why it generates effortless power and isn't a heavy paddle.
What tennis player would you compare your pickleball game to?
I'm confused about this question? Me? Haha I play the same on both courts. The paddle was made to mimic my play style of aggressive play and power. I would like to see more active players get out there against pickleball pros and pickleball pros out on the tennis court. Could be a fun mix-up.
Speaking of tennis, is there a storyline or player you have enjoyed following this year?
Hard to go by [Aryna] Sabalenka. She just dominates. Fun to watch, I'm lucky enough to know her personally, but even if I didn't know her socials are good, it's exactly what she is like in person. On the men's side. Terence Atmane, guys a legend, so genuine, and we both like Pokémon, so I have a soft spot for him. I am always watching his matches; I think he has massive potential.
What do you think about the new "rage rooms" for tennis players?
Hahah, I mean, we definitely could use them. Unless you're me, in which case I have a bad habit of letting it out on the court. Bro, [Andrey] Rublev, and I in one of those rooms would be a movie, haha.
Are there any young players you see yourself in?
I am not sure I can sit here and say I see myself in other players; players always influence other players, and younger generations. I would like to think that I have influenced some players out there, even if that means being yourself, apologizing to no one, and wearing your heart on your sleeve. I do go to these events and see kids wearing basketball jerseys and have that style that I brought to the court. So that's cool to see.
If a movie were made about your life, which actor would play you?
Well, I always thought it would be Will Smith. I am a huge fan of his movies. But the more time goes on, maybe Charlie Sheen is more fitting hahaha.
