AVCA Rankings Shake Up Top 25 as Washington Returns for First Time Since 2024

The latest AVCA rankings are in, and fluctuations have happened throughout.
Florida and TCU rise as the Gators swept Oklahoma and the Horned Frogs extended their win streak to nine. Texas drops a spot after falling to Kentucky, Pitt holds its spot at No. 2 after sweeping Stanford, and Indiana is knocking on the door of the Top 10 after defeating UCLA and Maryland.
Plus, two new teams that were unranked last week have made the list.
Here’s a look at this week’s AVCA Top 25 Rankings and what programs are making waves as conference play heats up.

Indiana Hoosiers
In Big Ten play against Maryland, the Hoosiers were lucky to get fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum back in the lineup. Her season debut helped Indiana sweep Maryland, as she collected 10 kills.
Additionally, Ella Boersema led the team with 11 kills on a .667 hitting percentage, and Teodora Krickovic put up 38 assists.

Washington Huskies
The Huskies made their way back into the rankings for the first time since 2024, as the program is off to an 11-0 start. They collected two wins this week, taking down the undefeated Michigan State and Michigan.
Simona Mateska led the Huskies with 12 kills, hitting .269 with three aces and eight digs in the defeat over the Spartans, while Kylie Kleckner collected 11 kills and Maija Howse hit .471 with six blocks.

Utah Utes
Utah enters the Top 25 poll after upsetting Baylor in five sets. Utah now remains undefeated in three-set matches with a perfect 9-0 record. The win over the Bears is the second-ranked win of the season for the Utes, after they took down Colorado just one week ago.
Princess Atamah was the star of the night, collected 10 kills on 16 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage. She also contributed a team-high five blocks.

Texas Longhorns
Well, the high from the five-set thriller victory over Tennessee didn’t last long for the Longhorns. They went on to drop their first SEC road match against Kentucky in front of the fourth-largest crowd ever at Memorial Coliseum.
Texas held leads late in the first and third sets, but the Wildcats came back and grabbed the sweep.

Florida Gators
There’s no better way to open conference play than with a second-best offensive effort of the season.
The Gators posted 48 kills on a .406 hitting percentage in the sweep over Oklahoma. Kamryn Chaney led with 15 kills, while Alec Rothe had 12 and Logan King had 11. Taylor Parks was dominant with 35 assists and three kills.
