Assembly

The Titan T-3 power rack is put together using bolt hardware and requires a 15/16 wrench for assembly. While possible to construct solo, it’s recommended to have someone help you put this rack together because it is heavy and can be difficult to maneuver alone. Titan recommends bolting down your rack for added stability.

Titan T-3 Power Rack

Titan’s T-3 series base power rack includes the heavy-duty 11-gauge steel cage, a standard pull-up bar (1.25-inch diameter), a “fat” grip (two-inch diameter) pull-up bar and two J-hooks for squats. It also features a 1,100-pound weight capacity, making it suitable for both beginner and advanced weight lifters. In addition, Titan offers 54 different accessory and attachment options to upgrade your power rack into a home gym paradise. Some of the most popular accessories include the rack-mounted landmine, T-3 series dumbbell holders, adjustable lever arms, flip-down safety bars, wall-ball target and dip attachment.

Benefits of the Titan T-3

There are many benefits to owning a power rack for your home gym, including convenience, safety, versatility and customization. Having a power rack, a barbell and some weights at home means that you no longer need a commercial gym membership to work out effectively, saving you both time and money in the long run. Power racks also provide a stable and safe environment when performing heavy lifts such as the squat and bench press, as they have adjustable J-cups and safety arms that can catch the barbell in the case of a failed rep. The steel uprights of a power rack also include drilled holes that not only support the J-cups and safety arms, but also a variety of different attachments that increase the functionality of your rack and the number of exercises you can perform.

The Titan T-3 Series is a popular power rack due to its affordability and overall quality. If you are only familiar with a basic squat rack, then you will definitely notice the difference in stability when using a power rack’s steel cage, especially when performing heavy lifts. The benefits of the T-3 in particular lie in your ability to customize the power rack to meet your needs and space. Most power racks are created with a one-size fits all approach and they either fit in your space or don’t. The Titan T-3 sets itself apart from the competition by offering both height and depth options—a tremendous feature for consumers who want to maximize their home gym. Titan also offers a wide array of additional power rack attachments to enhance the customization of your power rack and increase the number of exercises you can perform. Overall, the T-3 is a durable, high-value power rack with a substantial 1,100-pound weight capacity that’s built to last.

How Much Does the Titan T-3 Cost?

The T-3 Series Power Rack will cost you somewhere between $520 and $690, depending on the rack height and depth you chose, as well as the decision to include optional weight plate holders. Here is a list of the different options and associated price points ranging from cheapest to most expensive.

  • 82-inch rack height, 24-inch rack depth, no weight plate holders ($520)
  • 82-inch rack height, 36-inch rack depth, no weight plate holders ($560)
  • 82-inch rack height, 24-inch rack depth, with weight plate holders ($570)
  • 91-inch rack height, 24-inch rack depth, no weight plate holders ($590)
  • 82-inch rack height, 36-inch rack depth, with weight plate holders ($610)
  • 91-inch rack height, 36-inch rack depth, no weight plate holders ($630)
  • 91-inch rack height, 24-inch rack depth, with weight plate holders ($660
  • 91-inch rack height, 36-inch rack depth, with weight plate holders ($690)

Titan does offer financing for the T-3 series power rack and is also known for running sales throughout the year in which it significantly discounts products.

We recommend the purchase of the weight plate holders for your power rack, not just because they are great for storing your weight plates, but also because the added weight helps to stabilize and secure your rack. When fully loaded with a few 45-pound bumper plates, the rack feels incredibly stable, even when unbolted to the ground.

For comparison purposes, the Rogue R-3 power rack, also made with two-inch by three-inch 11-gauge steel, with a 90-inch height and 24-inch depth is priced at $795. The primary difference in price is the fact that all of Rogue’s products are made right here in the United States while Titan does import its steel. If you don’t mind products manufactured outside of the U.S., then the T-3 series power rack can save you a couple hundred dollars while delivering a comparable product.

What Customers Say About the Titan T-3

The Titan Fitness T-3 power rack has over 200 customer reviews on the Titan Fitness website and maintains a 4.9/5-star rating. Many consumer reviews are extremely positive and focus on the ease of assembly and overall quality of the rack. While a few customers have reported that the assembly instructions could have been clearer, and it may take several hours to fully assemble, they are extremely satisfied with the finished product. One customer writes, “This is a great power rack for the price, well–built and sturdy, on par with Rogue fitness products.” This comment is well deserved, as Titan has really stepped its game up in recent years to compete with companies like Rogue and REP Fitness. The only standout issue that customers have experienced is having their package arrive looking beat up. That being said, that issue is more common in older reviews and it appears as though Titan has upgraded its packaging to help minimize this issue. If anything is damaged, Titan is known for its great customer service.

Titan T-3 Construction and Durability

The Titan T-3 series is a durable power rack constructed with two-inch by three-inch 11-gauge steel and has a rackable weight capacity of 1,100 pounds. The steel also comes coated with a colored powder finish that helps protect the steel against rust and corrosion. While the powder coat may scuff and chip over time with heavy use, this power rack is designed to last many years if properly cared for.

Who the Titan T-3 Is Best For

The Titan T-3 power rack is best for home gym owners that want budget friendly, commercial grade equipment that can fit in their garage or basement. This rack is a great option for both beginner and advanced lifters, but is best utilized by the more serious athlete or bodybuilder who needs a heavy-duty power cage to support their lifts and intense workouts. The T-3 is also great for individuals who want a rig they can customize to suit their specific workout needs. Titan offers over 50 different attachments and accessories to increase the functionality of your rack. Aside from elite powerlifters who are able to lift in excess of 1,000 pounds, the T-3 is a great addition to any home gym.

Who the Titan T-3 Will Not Work For

The Titan T-3 is a great power rack; however, it may not be suitable for everyone. Here are some considerations you should think about before purchasing the T-3. The first factor to consider is the exercises you enjoy doing for a workout. For example, if you’re someone who prefers cardiovascular exercise over strength training, then a treadmill might be a better option than a power rack. The T-3 is also a fairly large piece of equipment and may not be suitable for a garage gym with limited space. Finally, the T-3 despite being great for beginners and advanced lifters alike, might be a little overkill for newer fitness enthusiasts who may prefer a smaller footprint wall mounted rack or half rack setup.

Titan T-3 Accessories

Titan offers over 50 different ways to accessorize its T-3 series squat rack. These attachments and accessories are a great way to enhance the safety and functionality of your rack and increase the number of exercises and workouts you can perform. While they all come at an additional cost, it’s nice to be able to pick and choose the attachments that will benefit you most.

Assembly and Installation

The ease of assembly for the Titan T-3 is largely based on an individual's experience setting up gym equipment and using the appropriate tools. It’s also important to note that Titan does not currently offer a professional assembly option for its rack. That being said, the setup is a fairly simple process and most customers found the instructions clear and easy to follow. One review reads, “Quick and easy setup with an extra set of hands, the rack feels very sturdy and safe to use.” From the online reviews, the setup process is taking customers anywhere from one to two hours and while possible to construct solo, we recommend a second pair of hands to help accelerate the process. The power rack is put together using bolt hardware and requires a 15/16 wrench (not included) for assembly. Be sure to wait until the cage is fully assembled to fully tighten the screws and bolts, this allows the rack to settle properly on slightly uneven surfaces. Titan does also recommend bolting down your rack to the floor to enhance stability. While this isn’t necessary for personal use, it will definitely make your rack more secure and prevent the cage from shaking slightly during pull-ups or when re-racking heavy weight. That being said, if this rack is intended for commercial use by multiple people, then you should find a way to bolt it down properly. If you don’t plan on bolting down your rack, we recommend purchasing the added weight plate storage that when loaded will improve your racks stability.

Warranty and Customer Service

Titan does offer a limited warranty that covers the T-3 Series for one year. This is a standard warranty that covers any defects in the rack or failures that occur during intended use. While a one-year warranty is still nice, most of its competitors do offer a lifetime warranty on their power racks. Regarding customer service, most reviews state that Titan’s service has been outstanding and quickly rectifies any problems customers have encountered.

Titan T3 vs. REP PR-1000 Power Rack

Titan T-3 Power Rack .

Both the Titan T-3 and the REP PR-1000 are great power racks to use in a home gym setting. The first difference is the cost, with the REP PR-1000 priced at $399.99 which is around $150 to $200 dollars cheaper then the Titan T-3. With this price drop you would expect to see a slight dip in quality and weight capacity. The REP PR-1000 is made of 14-gauge steel, which is thinner and less durable than the 11-gauge steel used for the T-3. This is the primary reason the PR-1000 has a 700-pound weight capacity compared to the 1,100 of the T-3. That being said, a 700-pound weight capacity is still more than enough for most advanced lifters. The PR-1000 is also slightly less customizable than the T-3 as it’s only available in one height (83.6 inches), depth (26 inches) and color (black). In summary, the Titan T-3 is a more robust and durable power rack with a higher weight capacity and a broader range of accessories. However, it is more expensive than the PR-1000 which is still a great option for most fitness enthusiasts.

Titan T3 FAQs

What is the difference between the Titan T2 and T3?

The major difference between the two Titan power racks is that the T-2 is a more budget friendly option than the T-3 and about $100 dollars cheaper ($399.99—419.99). The T-2 is an overall smaller rack and made with a thinner, two-inch by two-inch 12-gauge steel. This downgrades the weight capacity of the T-2 to 850 pounds when compared to the 1,100 pound capacity of the T-3. The T-2 is also only available in one color, one depth (26 inches) and two height options (71 inches or 83 inches) which limits some customization. The final difference is the hole sizing as the T-2 has one-inch holes compared to the T-3’s 11/16-inch holes. This means that the rack accessories such as the J-hooks, safety bars and attachments are not interchangeable between these two racks.

Does Titan T3 need to be bolted down?

Titan Fitness does recommend bolting down the T-3 Power Rack for added stability. We totally agree that this will enhance the stability of the rack and reduce wobble, but also know that not everyone has the option to bolt something into their floors. For most individuals, the rack has enough weight to be stable on its own, especially with the added weight plate storage. However, if the rack will be used for commercial use or you are consistently lifting heavy loads of more than 300 pounds then bolting down the rack should be seriously considered to eliminate the risk of the rack tipping over.

Is Titan Fitness USA made?

While some of the Titan Fitness products are made in the USA, not all of its products are manufactured domestically. This is a primary reason why Titan is able to offer its products at a lower price point than competitor companies like Rogue and REP Fitness.

Are power racks worth it?

Power racks are definitely worth it for anyone who is serious about strength training or weightlifting and wants to make the most out of their home gym. The power rack is just such a versatile piece of gym equipment that not only allows you to perform a wide range of different exercises, but also provides a safe environment in which to do so.

Do I need a half rack or power rack?

Whether you need a half rack or a power rack depends on the exercises you wish to perform and the size of your gym. The main difference between a half rack and a power rack is the level of support and safety they provide during training. The half rack consists of only two uprights and J-hooks and doesn’t allow for features like safety arms to assist in the event of a failed rep. The benefit is that they take up less space than power racks, making them a good option for home gyms with limited room. The power rack is a sturdier option designed to support heavier weight, usually includes a pull-up bar and is more easily customizable as it can support various attachments to increase the functionality.

The Takeaway: Is the Titan T3 Right for You?

A power rack is a great investment for anyone who is serious about strength training or weightlifting. It offers safety, versatility, convenience and the ability to progress and push yourself to achieve your fitness goals. Overall the Titan T-3 Power Rack represents a great value rack for the budget-minded consumer. The number of attachments and accessories offered by Titan are also great because they add a ton of functionality to the rack itself. For the budget minded consumer, you can’t beat the value the Titan T-3 Power Rack provides.
