If Sunderland are to come away with a win on Saturday they will probably need to keep Nahki Wells quiet.

The Bermuda international has really stepped up to the plate for the Robins this season, scoring nine goals and laying on another four assists.

If you're seeing the name and thinking you've definitely seen it before, the chances are you have. Wells, now 32, has had a fascinating career that started semi-professionally in Bermuda before working his was all the way to the Premier League with Burnley.

That journey has seen him also appear for Carlisle, QPR, Bradford and Huddersfield before playing for Bristol City.

His career has always feature plenty of goals, too. In fact he has consistently scored through the levels - until he got the Premier League at least.

Wells has scored 154 goals in 487 appearances, with 335 of those appearances coming in the Championship with 92 goals and 31 assists.

This season is no different with Wells on pace to have his best season since 15/16, when he scored 17 goals and got four assists for Huddersfield.

Nahki Wells

In fact, Wells' 13 goal contributions for Bristol City this season make up for 32% of Bristol's league goals this season.

The former Premier League striker will certainly pose a different threat to what Ballard and Batth have came up against in recent weeks. Wells stands at 5"7 whilst Sunderland have recently played against 6"1 Chris Martin, 6"4 Andy Carroll and 6"2 Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Despite not scoring in the this fixture earlier this season Wells made a blistering start to the season scoring six goals and assisting two in his first 10 games.

However, he has gone off the boil a little since. In fact, he has only added three goals and two assists to this seasons tally in the past 20 games for Bristol City, although he did get an assist last time they played away from home against Blackburn.

Regardless, Wells is a proven Championship commodity, and one Sunderland will likely have to be very wary of at the Stadium of Light.
