Sunderland host Watford in the Championship tonight.

Sunderland go into this game in 4th place of the Championship table despite a number of teams playing last night.

Tony Mowbray's side can close to gap to Preston to just a point should they win and Preston lose; Preston North End go up against Leicester City tonight.

Watford meanwhile are down in 21st.

The Hornets have won just two games all season but despite that, head coach Valerien Ismael was handed a new deal going into this game.

Sunderland team news - who's out?

As ever, Mowbray has a few injuries to contend with right now.

As per Sunderland Echo, Pierre Ekwah, Bradley Dack, and Jewison Bennette are all doubts for tonight's game.

And Aji Alese, Eliezer Mayenda, Dennis Cirkin, Timothee Pembele, Jay Matete, and Corry Evans remain longer-term absentees for the Black Cats.

Predicted line up

Sunderland got a good win at Sheffield Wednesday last time out. And with no new injury concerns and no players likely to return to the starting XI, we could see an unchanged XI for tonight's game.

One possible change could be Nazariy Rusyn coming in for Mason Burstow; fans are warming to Rusyn but it seems like he needs some time to adapt to the English game still.

Jenson Seelt could be pushing for a start soon after making his debut vs Sheffield Wednesday, but again, that looks to be a while off yet.

Here's how we expect Sunderland to line up tonight...

Huggins

Ballard

O'Nien
