Sunderland have made signings during the course of this season, and just about all of them have impressed.

And one name who's come into contention later on in the season is Pierre Ekwah.

The Frenchman signed a four-and-a-half year deal from West Ham in the January transfer market, having since featured 14 times in the Championship.

He started the last three for Sunderland as injuries began to plague Tony Mowbray's side, with Ekwah playing as one of the holding midfielders in front of the defence.

His performance against Preston was particularly impressive and he looks to be yet another impressive youngster that Sunderland have sourced from the Premier League.

It certainly seems like Ekwah is starting to enjoy his time with the club, and he's also impressed by the club's fan base.

Speaking to Sunderland Echo, Ekwah had his say on the Black Cats faithful, saying:

"They are literally following you wherever you go. And when I say everywhere you go, I mean everywhere you go.

"When we went to Fulham, I went out onto the pitch and I just saw a wall. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy’. I really felt that, and the fan base of Sunderland has really shocked me.

"I absolutely love playing at the stadium. I know when I am playing at home, I’m going to have goosebumps. There are 45,000 people there, they just want you to win, and the atmosphere is crazy."

Sunderland played Fulham in the FA Cup back in February, eventually losing the game 3-2 after an exciting battle.

And Sunderland have another couple of exciting clashes coming up against Luton Town in the Championship play-off semi-finals, where Ekwah's fine form of late will be needed yet again.

The first leg takes place on Saturday evening, with the game being broadcast live on Sky Sports.
