Former Sunderland man Pascal Chimbonda has landed his first managerial job, taking charge of ninth-tier Skelmersdale United.

Chimbonda, now 44, will be remembered by Sunderland fans for his brief spell at the club during the 2008/09 Premier League season.

He made just 13 league appearances for the club before leaving to return to Spurs, with the Frenchman having also represented Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, and QPR among others.

And towards the end of his career, the right-back spent a lot of time playing in the lower leagues, turning out for teams like Markey Drayton Town, Washington FC, and Ashton Town.

And now, Chimbonda has landed his managerial job with Skelmersdale United in the North West Counties League Premier Division, which is the ninth-tier of English football.

Chimbonda has one cap for France to his name, and six for Guadeloupe, with more than 400 career appearances to his name having played in the Premier League for many years.

Now, he'll be hoping to ply his trade in the lower leagues of England with Skelmersdale, who are based in Lancashire.
