Tony Mowbray said he knew ‘for a fact’ how big an offer Sunderland would consider for Jack Clarke before his sacking on Monday.

Clarke won and scored a penalty to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Black Cats in what turned out to be Mowbray’s final game in charge at Millwall.

It was the winger’s 10th goal of the season so far, meaning he has already topped the nine he plundered last season.

That form last season led to persistent summer interest from Premier League Burnley, although their offer never got above £10million for the 23-year-old.

Sunderland are braced for further interest when the transfer window opens next month, but Mowbray revealed the club’s valuation will be at least £20million – double what was offered in the summer.

"I don't know what he is worth now,” Mowbray said, as per The Chronicle. “More than £10m? I would think so!

"I know for a fact that the club wouldn't even consider anything less than probably double that in the modern market of football.

“I do think the club should be ready [for interest] because people will look at Jack Clarke either in this window or in the summer because he is a phenomenal talent.

"I can see why he got a move to Tottenham at such a young age, because the attributes he has got and the ability and how close he can keep the ball. He's an amazing footballer."
