Sunderland have been credited with an interest in Lincoln City striker Ben House.

A report from The Real EFL earlier today claimed that Championship duo Bristol City and Sunderland are keen on Lincoln City striker House.

The 23-year-old is a product of the Reading youth academy but has made name with Lincoln City in League One, after joining from non-league side Eastleigh last season.

House has scored 12 goals in 37 league outings for the Imps this season and the bulk of his goals have come in the second half of the campaign, helping Lincoln towards a strong finish.

He remains under a longer-term contract at the club and so he'd cost a 'hefty fee', according to The Real EFL. Their report also claims there's League One interest in the Scot.

Sunderland's summer striker search...

After a season of striker woes at the Stadium of Light, expect Sunderland to sign a few in the summer.

They began the season with only two options up top in Ellis Simms and Ross Stewart - one was the recalled by his parent club and the other got injured.

It's left Mowbray with barely any options in attack all season, bar Joe Gelhardt for the second of this campaign, so it makes sense that Sunderland are being linked with strikers.

And House has enjoyed a good season. He's a robust striker with a clear eye for goal but he remains relatively unproven at League One level, let alone Championship level, so he could be arriving as more of a back-up player if Sunderland do pursue him.

Given his contract situation as well, and the fact that other teams are interested, it would be a costly move for a player who's not a younger player either, so it doesn't seem like this one aligns with Sunderland's newfound transfer strategy.

An interesting link nonetheless, though.
