Sunderland and League One side Derby County have both been credited with an interest in Rangers youngster Charlie Lindsay.

A report on the Daily Record's live transfer blog this morning revealed that Sunderland and Derby County have taken an interest in Lindsay, 19, with the midfielder set to leave Ibrox as a free agent in the summer.

The Northern Ireland U19 international is yet to make his league debut for the Gers but he has played in the Europa Youth League, making five outings in last season's competition and in this season's too.

Now, he could be about to make the move south of the border in search of first-team opportunities this summer, and that move could be to the Stadium of Light with Sunderland.

More of the same, please...

Of all the teams in the Championship, Sunderland's recruitment has been some of the most impressive.

They continue to sign these unwanted youngsters from Premier League clubs where they can't get a look-in, giving them a chance to shine and seeing them prevail.

Aji Alese and Pierre Ekwah are two key examples of that, and Lindsay could well be the next young player to make the move to the Stadium of Light in a bid to better his career.

But Tony Mowbray and co must be wary of signing too many youngsters. There needs to be a balance between youth and experience and right now, Sunderland are only really signing youth.

This summer, Mowbray perhaps needs to sign some players with a bit more experience so that he can keep his squad balanced - especially if Sunderland end up earning promotion to the Premier League.

The second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final kicks off at 8pm tonight, with the game being shown live on Sky Sports.
