Brentford and Burnley are once again being linked with Sunderland's Jack Clarke.

Burnley wanted to sign Clarke, 22, from Sunderland during the summer transfer window, but the Black Cats knocked back numerous approaches from Vincent Kompany's side.

It was said at the time that Burnley had seen a £10million offer rejected before turning their attentions elsewhere.

But over the weekend just gone, Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon account that Brentford were now keen on Clarke and that the Bees were weighing up a potential £15million swoop in theNew Year.

The latest comes from Football Insider though who claim that Sunderland will hold out for a fee in excess of £15million for their star man, who's already scored seven goals in the Championship this season, making him the joint-highest scorer in the league right now.

Sunderland's valuation of Clarke...

Nixon revealed in his previous report that Sunderland could be forced into a sale in January, should they receive an appropriate offer, and so it seems like the Black Cats have a price tag in mind.

And given how well Clarke has performed this season and the fact that he remains under contract for a couple more years after this campaign, it's no surprise to hear that the club want more than £15million for him.

After rejecting Burnley approaches in the summer, it seems now like Sunderland have managed this one well. But whether or not they actually sell Clarke in the New Year remains to be seen.

For now, he's at the club and he's playing the best football of his career, so for Clarke too, there may be no reason to leave Sunderland so soon.
